Hello everyone, a year back, I created a little origami group that houses all the origami enthusiasts from my college. We have organized many tutorial sessions and everything is running so good so far.
The group started with only 3 people but has now turned into an active society of 25 people all with a keen interest in making origami. With so many people in the group, our quantity of raw materials have increased and we are looking to purchase in bulk which will help us reduce costs and save money.
Being the head of this creative society, every little aspect regarding the development of the group primarily depends on me. So, I would like to inquire where I can buy quality origami paper in bulk at a discounted or a reasonable price? Also, if anyone has any creative ideas to improve our origami sessions, please feel free to mention it here.
Thanks in advance.
Congratulations on your creative venture. I think that for an origami club, the only paper you need to provide at this stage is the regular origami paper, which is fairly cheap in general, and it's a better buy from the local market. See if you can negotiate with a nearby art supply store that can give you a bulk buy discount. Anyways all the best with your group. Origami is such a creative art and I'm glad there are people like you keeping it alive. Cheers.
You're doing a great job. You can find bulk paper anywhere, it's just that you have to be good at negotiations to get a good discount.
If you happen to have the store chain called Daiso in your area, I highly recommend checking them out. It's a Japanese company that supplies all the materials that are exclusively available in that country. And they have a large variety of different sized and coloured origami paper at attractive prices.
Thank you ryangabriel and adenbrennan. When I first started the group, I was hoping that I would get to buy good quality paper. But with the number of people enrolled in the group, it seems better to go with an economical approach and take advantage of the bulk buying option because of our numbers. I guess brushing up my negotiation skills is the need of the hour.
I think I can empathize with you as I have been in this same position some years back. I used to hold origami workshops in my college. I found the most cost-effective method for groups was to buy rolls of wrapping paper and cut them to size.
You can easily create anywhere between 20-40 squares out of a normal roll. Keeping an eye on local bookstores is also a good idea. They sometimes try and get rid of their old stock of origami paper, usually in 200, 300 and 500 sheet packages.
Thank you so much jasperroberto for your suggestion. I shall check it up in my locale if there are any stores getting rid of their origami paper.
I don't know where you could buy origami paper but I wish to spearhead a group of this sort on my own. Please guide me as to how should I go about it.
You can also create an origami group of yours, just stay dedicated to this art and give your utmost to it. They say, like minds attract and sooner or later, your passion will get you in touch with people of a similar hobby and sooner or later, you will see your wish come true. Wish you all the best with your creative art keep exploring new platforms to develop your knowledge.
