Hello everybody! I'm so excited to be here. I'm a total beginner when it comes to origami, but I had plenty of experience with drawing and model spacing, so compared to my peers I consider myself to be pretty advanced in terms of manual skills. I have picked up Origami by a total accident, I was looking for some cool drawings and there was a guy on drawings forum, that was also heavily into origami. I chcked a few of his arts and I was really impressed. I realized, wow, this is really something, to be able to make such nice figures of different animals, creatures and patterns - this guy was really good at origami and also amazing at drawing. Very talented, pretty young too, I believe he was in his early 20s. He kind of inspired me to check into origami and well, here I am... We could say that I picked up origami like a week ago, didn't complete anything yet, but I did a couple of tutorials of simple arts, kind of worked, but I wasn't satisfied, yet I was granted with a bit better perception on how to do this. I'm sure I will be able to learn a lot from you guys and I will do my best to be an asset to your community.

Hey, nice to meet you. I also had a bit of an experience with drawing (I haven't actually mentioned that in my introduction thread). Not much, but I did a few anime characters sketches, gotta say that it was easier for me than actual origami, but seems much less rewarding and I chose origami after all, but I may as well draw something too from time to time. Hard to say. Anyway, glad to meet you and I hope that you will have a great time here!

Drawing is really great. I was always pretty bad manually so I never really got into drawing, but I can't say that I haven't tried. I did, and quite a lot actually. I have a friend who is really good at drawing, he is horrible in origami, but I'm sure that he would be able to learn that eventually. But, as far as drawing goes, he is really great - he can draw basically anything you want, although I have noticed, that as far as both drawing and origami goes, i's all about what you want to make. If somebody imposes a certain idea on you, and you yet do not have too much of an experience in either drawing or origami, it's extremely hard to get it done well. Best projects always come straight from the heart, we need to have the desire to really make it. I mean, now that I am much more experienced in Origami, you can drop me an idea, and I will make sure to make it, but at the beginning it's a little bit harder as it requires a lot of time to really master it, and you really need a good reason or feel totally into it to make it good.

So, nice to have you here and I'm counting on you becoming an active member of this community!

Thanks, both of you! I will make sure to become an active member Leonard. I really like origami and I feel like my feelings towards it are only growing stronger. When looking for what to make now, I'm kind of taking a random approach to be honest. Just going through numerous tutorials and picking those, that I am actually able to make. Most projects seem to far out of my reach for now, so I only focus on those simplest ones. Haven't really done anything in 100%, but I have learned a lot by trying various approaches and ways to create something. We will see how it goes, but I'm sure I will stay here for quite some time!

Hey! Nice to see a fellow beginner like me :P I hope, that you will (we both will) have a great time here and we will learn a lot from more experienced users. I have actually done a few arts already, but I am still far from even the minimum level, that I would want to achieve. I got to say though, that it's not so hard actually. I mean, sure it is very hard, but once you get the basics and kind of understand the very mechanism and the way people make origami, it's all suddenly becoming so much easier. Still, good luck and I'm glad that you are getting quite a lot of support and warm welcome from mor experienced users. So far, even though I'm not here for too long, it seems like it's one of the most user-friendly communities ever, once you establish yourself here, you can can really feel kind of like at home, to which you long coming back

Hello!

I have just registed at this forums, but I already got some experience with Origami - not so much, frankly my passion towards this hobby has been up and down, so I had quite long breaks in my career. The very first origami I have created was a flower back in 2015, so 3 years ago, and since then I had a couple of a few months break, so my overall experience with origami is probably shorter than a year. I don't want to give up now though, I already gave up on way too many things in my life and I would like to finally get into something for real. Like start doing, trying different patterns, practicing different methods and getting good in something, that I am actually interested with. I don't want anything else at this point. As long as learning something is always an amazing experience, it's an even better one when you reach the level, where others consider you good, you can then make some amazing stuff, help others and feel better about yourself. I'm at this point in my life, where I seriously need something like this as my work is pretty much burning me out and carerr opportunities I kind of small, at least for now, when I enter my 40s I may be able to look for something less damaging and more interested, but as for now I really do need a hobby to just be able to function on daily basis. And I sincerely hope, that Origami will provide this

I know exactly what you mean Litegami. We all need something to focus our attention on, that is either relaxing for us or just making us comfortable. Life cannot only be a grind, and you also need to find time for activities that you really love and enjoy doing, otherwise it's not a life and I don't wish anybody living their life like this. Glad to have you here!

I know exactly what you mean with being good at something. Honestly, whatever I have done in my life, I always wanted to be good at it. You may call it an ambiiton, sure, it probably has to do with that a little bit, but I believe that actually everyone wants to be good at something and feel good about themselves thanks to that. Just not everyone realizes that and/or have no desire to change that. It's not an easy thing to focus on something entirely in your spare time, even if it's a hobby and if you want to be really good at it, you have to enjoy doing than, then it's still pretty tiring and requires a lot of effort to learn. Whether you pick sports, soccer for example and you want to be good at it, at least better than most people you play with in non-professional neighborhood leagues, you will have to put tons of practice and effort to be good at it.

Sure, you may love playing soccer, but that doesn't change the fact, that you still have to really do your best every time you play, if you want to get on a pretty good level. And the training part, as well as it may sure fun and after all it's the activity you chose to spend your spare time on, it can also be very tiresome and frustrating. That's why I believe taking something easy and just doing it whenever you find it suitable is a much better approach than typical hard-trying with dreams of getting good. You may very easily end up disappointed in your lack of effects or poor progress, and totally abandon the niche. But then again, it seems like it's not really possible in your cause, because you have already made up your mind. You already know, that you do this because a) you like and b) you have the motivation to finally become at something. It may not be an ambition, but you are surely one of those people that take life pretty serious and want to improve themselves as well as increase their life-quality in general, so telling you to take a light approach won't work anyway.

So, my suggestion is to simply do your best. Keep trying, keep fighting, even when your favorite hobby seems hard, keep thinking of new solutions, new patterns and new ways to create something. That is if you really have the desire to become good at something

Catapult made a good point, although I'm not sure if forcing yourself to train, even if you like the chosen sport or activity (origami). I'm still much more into taking in more lightly - so far has worked for me in anything else, just do something when you feel like doing it, and don't do it if you do not. It's that simple. If you really like origami, then you will never quit again and you will totally get into it and the mere training and practicing won't even be that hard as some make it to be. It all depends on how much you like in order to be really good. If you hate doing something, then sorry, but you will most likely never be really good at this. Oh, and I'm a beginner as well, much less experienced in origami than you, so you can take my words with a grain of salt, although my approached has worked with everything else from games to private life adn relationships.

Nice to have you here as well!
