Hi, my name is Patty and I make origami boxes. I've made other things too, but primarily make boxes and sell at craft fairs around the holidays. I have a question. I want to use something to make the boxes sturdier. Like stiffen the paper as I use origami paper which makes the boxes a little difficult to use because they crush so easily and don't hold much weight. Any suggestions?

I wonder if it would help if you laminate the paper first, or if the lamination would make the paper too difficult to fold

good thinking, but I can't imagine trying to laminate every piece of paper. I don't think it would fold well either. Have something that is laminated and tried folding and it doesn't work. Too thick for one thing. I appreciate your idea. Thank you.

Card stock is probably too heavy. I have used scrapbook paper, 12 in. By 12in. Is good. If you are making large boxes get the copy paper size in scrapbook paper. You can go to an art store like Sam Flax, get the larger sheets of art paper...l guess you have or should get a good rotary paper cutter or a guillotine style one for making paper the size you want.
