I used to do origami a lot in the past, but all I am able to do now is make a bird that flaps it's wings. I'm glad to be here.

Hi Robert. I'm new here too. May I inquire as to why the flapping bird is all you can currently create? Just wondering, because I myself have some trouble with my fine dexterity sometimes, due to cervical and left arm injury. I taught myself origami about 35 yrs ago, dropped it for a few yrs. While I focused on p/t after an accident, then began again with a need and hunger to fold everything I saw! I never go a day without folding. Even on my difficult days, I fold SOMETHING. Enjoy!

I'm glad to hear that you fold everyday. I try to do so myself because I feel no matter what it is, I have created something and it's wonderful to know that there are so many others all over the world doing the same thing. It never ceases to amaze me. Margaret

Hi Margaret, I feel the same way. Amazed at so many others all around the world doing the same. Have you been to a convention? I've never been, but one day I hope to, so I can be more inspired seeing great works, first hand. Heading to the dentist., and folding swallowtail and monarch butterflies to stay relaxed before a root canal. Great meditation!

Hope your root canal went well. I've done some of Michael La Fosse's butterflies. Once I folded some simple butterflies and the grand kids and I took a walk through the woods where my mother lived. We put the butterflies here and there and left them for whoever discovered them and for my mother to count each time she took a walk. They slowly disappeared. I've also folded cranes and hung them in a tree in the park that I live by. People are always so surprised to discover them. No one knows it was me. Margaret

Ah ha! What fun! Yes, I am folding some of Michael La Fosse's butterflies as well as Jo Nakashima and Tadashi Mori's designs. I then hand paint them and finish them in resin. They are all so beautiful. And the root canal is done! Yeah! Today I have plenty of time to lay around and rest my jaws. So more butterfly ornaments. And fish :)
