,
I started at age 29...Met once and folded with Lillian Oppenheimer and decided if l ever shared my hobby l would do it free and provide the paper. I still do that. I went to 2 conventions and learned so much, met many friends over the Years! Origami is a lifelong activity . At 82 it keeps me mentally alert and busy, l want to teach it to kids. There is joy and challenges to explore new things. I am an intermediate level folder..love animal folding and anything with humor...

wilmajean, kids are really fun to teach and it's great to see their faces when they see what they have created. Origami seems like magic. It's amazing how available instructions are now. I first learned at our local art gallery when they offered a class. Never forgot how I felt when I folded mu first sailboat there, the fact that I had to sit on the cement floor and even how the paper smelled. Didn't do much again until about 30 years ago but has been a constant in my life since. I am an intermediate folder as well. I am 66 and would like to enjoy another 30+ years. Margaret

The hi, Margaret. I learned from the two Randlett books printed in 1959. I do well from diagrams. Tutorials. on the internet can be great. One good folder is on origami spirit. Also happy folding by Sarah Adams. She is inactive, 3 kids now. Check her archives. Joseph yakishima is good. I cannot fold from crease patterns . I loved hiking so like the zinger book, it has an.Appalachian shelter, and chair. Hard but cute, also a canoe. I love animals. check out origami usa and they have lots of stuff..including a list of clubs. They have a convention in NYC the last weekend in june. Great if you live up that way or can afford to travel. Love your first experience with origami. I have had some great experiences, too. So stay calm and..keep folding!

I've been doing origami for a little more than 10 years. I enjoy it and hand out what I made to my passengers, I'm a wheelchair van driver and they really love them in the Nursing homes that I go into.

Wonderful. People remember origami figures you make and hand out. What figures do you make?
