Simple Yet Impressive. Your Favourite Models
Need to check it out! Sounds intriguing!
ameen, is it sold as a model that you can unfold and then fold it back? Or like a cracked sheet of paper?
I tend to believe that the more primitive and recognizable the form of the model is, the more it touches the hearts of people who don't know a thing about origami. At the hospital where I work there was a display of something like 100 really simple origami fox models that kids made. The foxes were made of paper of various colours with tiny googly eyes glued on. Most people found them adorable, and my colleagues kept asking why I was making some really weird and boring stuff when I just could be making something cute like those little foxes at the display? So, Martin16, even if you are going to make the Ancient Dragon right in front of a non-folders' eyes, don't forget to give it googly eyes! That's the only way to impress non-folders!
Bobsmom, aw, this is sad!
I really like what you’ve done!
Yes, you need to carry paper all the time because you may have to fold( do origami) any where, any time.
My favorite is "TALKING BIRD" it breaks the ice, makes everyone SMILE & TALK.
Joe Nakashima has a free downloadable diagram of a penguin that is 3d and instantly recognizable. I give them away as fast as I can fold them. Even easier is Peterpaul Forcher's "Maus". If you use pink paper and fold it with the white side up you get a white mouse with pink ears and tail. It is a classic and very simple design that can be folded in minutes and is very impressive to those unfamiliar with origami (and to some that are). I love folding them and they are so simple that I was able to make the origami from memory after following the diagram 3 or 4 times. It's a free download.
