Good going LillyJuan, I must say that box pleating is one such technique that is the preference of almost every origami artist. No doubt that you want to dive further into the nitty gritties of this technique. You said you have made gift boxes. Here's a piece of advice - you can also include box pleating technique while making gift boxes the next time.

All you have to do is crease the bottom edges of box, make sure your box is able to stand strong because there are chances that complex pleating can develop wrinkles in the box and eventually make it weak to fall apart.

You can also use card stock paper that is often used in making greeting cards and standing projects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tLua2r0ZOA Follow this tutorial to get a step by step procedure of folding a gift box into a pleated design. However, do not stick to one technique; you must experiment with new techniques, adding your own creativity into it. If you limit yourself to one particular technique, you won't be able to discover the latest and more diverse techniques in origami.

That was quite flattering I must say viviano7wiston. I feel rather grateful to hear that people like you get inspired by my words. I'm only looking to promote this fine art.

My intentions are to guide anyone and everyone who has the talent and interest in origami but lacks the proper guidance. And don't worry if you haven't tried the pinwheel yet. It's better late than never. Best wishes from my side boy, ping me if you need any further help regarding origami.

Origami is an amusing and enticing art that is gaining its popularity among the millennials. It's not a surprise that you are addicted to origami. I have been an origami freak since my teens and this art still continues to spark my interest.

Coming to your fidget spinner, if you want to have a perfectly rotating spinner then you must get familiar with pinwheel folds. I hope you might have made pinwheels during your initial trials with origami, but if not, then you should probably start working on it because although they seem simple and effortless, they require patience, persistence and a good sync of your fingers with the paper. Pinwheel base is the fundamental for a fidget spinner. You can take this link as a reference or you can explore YouTube for some other interactive videos on pinwheel folds - http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-pinwheel-base.html

Before working on the fidget spinner, your hands must get used to these folds. Keep practicing and exploring this art, I hope that you succeed in giving your fidget spinner that perfect spin.

Hi SophiaMadison, I really appreciate this initiative and I agree with your thought that extra curricular activities are as important as any academic stability. If you're looking to expand your origami classes to educate more students, then I would advise you to rent a place and transform into a nice origami studio. You can promote your studio on social platforms.

What I'm suggesting are long-term investments but little things add to a common good. Take guidance from an art studio in your locality; they can guide you on the nuances as well as the investments related to it. Anyways my best wishes are with you, keep polishing your skills and do post updates about your progress.

You should really encourage his talent. I am glad that today's parents are taking a keen interest in developing their kid's creativity. Tomoko Fuse's books have got some really good insights on techniques. But if you want to keep him occupied and learning for years, get Lang's Origami Design Secrets. My best wishes to your son.

Hello OliviaOrigami, seems like you are really interested in origami. I am an origami artist, and I have organized a couple of exhibitions as well. I would like to tell you that showcasing your art in an exhibition is not as simple as you might think. There are many guidelines one has to follow before approaching for an exhibition. As of now, I would suggest that you should develop your art further to a professional level and then approach any exhibitors. Uploading the video tutorials of your art is also an efficient and productive way to showcase your art. Anyways, best wishes from my side, keep developing your skills.

Well said bellajustin and jasonlian, you both have made your points clear. We are not degrading traditional methods. It's just that we all should widen our creativity with the help of technology if it's readily available to us. Technology has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on how you cash in on it.

Hello nataliacooper and ashtonbryan, it feels good that you are interested in origami art and want to discover new dimensions to it. Although there is plenty of diagramming software out there, I would suggest that you both must opt for Inkscape. It's a free program and it has a user-friendly interface that is specially built for beginners. (https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/%3Dextension/) You can download the extension through this link or you can buy the original version of the software. Best wishes from my side and keep encouraging your creativity.

You're doing a great job. You can find bulk paper anywhere, it's just that you have to be good at negotiations to get a good discount.

If you happen to have the store chain called Daiso in your area, I highly recommend checking them out. It's a Japanese company that supplies all the materials that are exclusively available in that country. And they have a large variety of different sized and coloured origami paper at attractive prices.
